FILM CAPACITORS
DC-LINK: cylindrical or square, with screw connections or solder pins
SNUBBER: with connection flanges for direct mounting on the semiconductor or solderable
FILM MODULES: Here, Jianghai is one of the very few companies with fully automated production for real mass production (e.g. for the e-mobility sector), whereby almost all designs are developed in the customer's layout!
Fully automated manufacturing processes enable real mass production - and that in customer-specific designs! The high level of vertical integration enables Jianghai to have a technological advantage, especially with high voltages, and to provide you with a secure purchase without supply bottlenecks from upstream suppliers. TECH TALK FILM CAPACITORS
Capacitors are components in electrical engineering and electronics that have the ability to bridge the absence of an electrical voltage from the voltage source for a brief moment. They therefore store electrical charges and the associated electrical energy in the form of an electrical field.
Every capacitor is based on the principle of the plate capacitor: it consists of two electrically conductive plates, known as the anode (+) and cathode (-). An insulator (dielectric) is inserted between the plates to separate the charges. Depending on the technology, this results in electrolytic capacitors for aluminum oxide, film capacitors for plastics, MLCCs for ceramics and others. The physical properties of the capacitors’ construction materials determine the electrical parameters of the capacitor, for example capacitance and rated voltage.
Structure and special features of film capacitors
Depending on the type of film capacitor and its area of application, plastic and metal films or (as in the case of DC link capacitors) metallized plastic films are wound to form a capacitor cell. The films are then electrically contacted at the end faces of the winding and connected to the external terminals. The capacitance of a capacitor depends on the thickness and the composition of the dielectric (the thinner the dielectric, the higher the capacitance). Film capacitors utilize thin dielectrics and thus high capacitance values. Due to the favorable geometry, the leads can be kept short. As a result, very low inductance values are achieved and ohmic losses are minimized.
In addition, the metallized films used have self-healing properties, which means that minor punctures do not lead to the destruction of the component. Last but not least, the electrical parameters of film capacitors show good temperature characteristics.
